Exercise 2

Recognizing Parallel Structure

Directions: In the exercise that follows, you will need to determine whether or not items have parallel structure.

To maintain parallelism, you must list items in a series with equal grammatical structure:

Derrick wants to see Crunch! , Crunch! , and Crunch!.

Derrick hopes to Run! , Run! , and Run!.

An error occurs when the grammatical structure of one or more of the items does not match the others, like this:

Derrick wants to see Crunch! , Crunch! , and Run!.

Derrick hopes to Run! , Crunch! , and Run!.

To keep track of your answers, print the accompanying handout. If you are unsure which choice to make, consult the rules.

Disclaimer: All prizes in this exercise are cyber, which means they have no physical reality and cannot be collected for use in the material world.
